Aside from the new Full- Carbon sole, the feature that impresses us the most with the 2009 SIDI’s is the new Ultra SL buckle. It retains the positive ratcheting security of the old version, so you will still enjoy on-the- bike adjustments and slip-proof fit. What takes the Ultra SL buckle to the next level is its ability to ratchet both ways at the touch of a lever, so you can micro-adjust your fit tighter or looser while in the saddle. Two more High Security Velcro instep straps stay where you put them to hold your foot solidly. The original version of SIDI’s Heel Security System prevents heel lift by locking your achilles in place.

On the bottom of the Sidi Genius 6.6 Carbon shoe you’ll find the same Full-Carbon sole that the Ergo 2 is built on. The Full-Carbon sole with it’s shock- absorbing cork insert shaves 65 grams per pair off the old High-Tech Carbon sole, and provides you with a platform that is at once more efficient and ergonomically safer. Overall stiffness is increased, but the sole is thinner, especially in the toe, which allows a minimal amount of flex for adequate blood- circulation. The increased rigidity and thinner profile both help you squeeze even more power out of your pedals.
